Occurrence of atopic disorders (%) in children and mothers in Finland and Russia in 2003

The results support the opinion that a microbe-rich environment protects against atopy. Atopy, an indirect indicator of westernisation, has not increased in Russian Karelia over the last generations, actually the contrary.
