Consumption of pain-killing medicines
in Finland 2007-2008

These statistics by the Finnish National Agency for Medicines indicate drug consumption as defined daily doses (DDD). The DDD is a unit of measurement used in the collection of international drug consumption statistics. It is defined as the assumed average maintenance dose per day for a drug used in its main indication in adults. The DDD calculations are based on the volume of sales in weight or volume units and an internationally agreed theoretical daily dose. This total consumption is adjusted to the population per 1,000 inhabitants and per day.

1) DDD 0,1 g O (extended-release capsules, extended-release granules for oral suspension,
extended-release tablets) 30 mg P (injection)
2) DDD 1,2 mg Td (transdermal patches)
0,6 mg Sl (compressed lozenge with integral oromucosal applicator)
